King Edward Medical University / Mio Hospital is the renowned Medical University of Pakistan, having roots in the pre-independence era. The institute was established as the medical school in 1860 and was the only medical college after the creation of Pakistan. The institute was given the status of Medical University in the year 2005 and considered as the topmost Medical Universities of Pakistan. The institute is situated in the city of Lahore and its main aim is to become the leading medical institute providing quality education services to its students provide them with exceptional skills and entrusting them with the communal services. The institute currently has 10 departments, Basic Science, Medicine & Allied, Surgery & Allied, Accident & Surgery Department, ORIC, Quality Enhancement Cell, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Education, Information Technology and Planning & Development.
