Pakistan Institute Of Development Economics mostly known as PIDE is the government-owned research institute and public policy think tank. The institute is situated in the city of Islamabad and located in the vicinity of Quaid-e-Azam University but has a separate board that oversees its operations. The institute was established in the year 1957 and it is considered as an influential voice in making the economic and public policy of Pakstan. The main aim of the institute is to become the world-class centre for excellence in research and Technology. The institute is keen to maintain its higher standards and produce individuals who are both talented and distinct. The institute currently has 7 departments and one school named PIDE school of Public Policy. The departments of PIDE are Economics, Economics & Finance, Business Studies, Econometrics & Studies, Development Studies, Environmental Economics and Health Economics.
