The institute was founded in the year 1985 and since then growing its services and equipment to fulfil the growing health needs of the community. The institute is situated in the Islamabad and also provides health care services to people of Islamabad and adjacent areas. The main aim of the institute is to become the leading medical institute of Pakistan and produce individuals who can contribute in the field of medical science and serve the nation in a very professional manner. The institute has currently 33 hospital departments and 4 teaching institute named, Quaid-e-Azam Postgraduate Medical College, Federal Medical & Dental College, College of Nursing, School of Nursing
