The University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences is the government-owned institute established to facilitate locals in managing their livestock. The institute was established in the year 1882 as a veterinary school and was given the status of the University in the year 2002. The institute main campus is in Lahore and has multiple sub-campuses, one such campus named " Para Veterinary Institute" is in Layyah. The main aim of the institute is to produce individuals who are aware of modern requirements for the safety of Livestock and bring innovation in the field of animal science. The institute Layyah campus offers numbers of short courses as well as main programs such as 2-years Livestock Assistant Diploma , 2-years Poultry Assistant Diploma , 1-year Dairy Herd Supervisor Diploma, Training of CLEW’S (Community Livestock Extension Workers), Training of AIA’S (Artificial Insemination Assistants), Trainings to Livestock farmers/breeders of livestock and Trainings of the unskilled manpower on livestock production, management etc.
