Quaid-e-Azam University is the government-owned research institute and undoubtedly one of the most prestigious and well-reputed institutes of Pakistan. The institute was first established as the Islamabad University in the year 1967 offering only Post Graduate degree programs, later it was transformed into interdisciplinary educational institute offering various undergraduate and graduate programs. The Institute is situated in the city of Islamabad and occupies almost 1700 acres with hosting almost 13000 students. The main aim of the institute is to produce individuals who are both talented and distinct. The institute aims to maintain its education standards and become the most leading and recognized research institute at both the national and international level. The institute currently has 4 faculties, faculty of Social Science, Biological Science, Medical Science and Natural Science. The University also administers some institutes such as National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research (NIHCR) Center for Excellence, Saulat Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research, Center of Excellence in Gender Studies, National Institute of Psychology, National Institute of Pakistan Studies and Area Study Centre for Africa, North & South America.
